As previously discussed the quality movement is one of the most influential and powerful movements ever designed. This quality movement is so adaptable that regardless of where you’re looking to apply these principles your result would only prove them out. As I mentioned in Tuesday’s blog. The sole purpose behind Mr. Deming’s work was to increase the productivity and quality of our product by first improving the quality of those producing the product. I once again invite you to view this information from the link that I will provide at the end of this blog. I will refer to the seven points that I pulled out of the 14 points total and speak and each one to let you know how I incorporate these points into my personal life choices that are for me for others for a larger group and ultimately how the world as I understand it.

Create consistency of purpose

Without a purpose that is grounded in consistency I will always be unpredictable and across the board.

These are often the tide to people that consider the activity to be an accomplishment. When I do this, I go from a person that has no direction or sense of accomplishment. I must see what others are doing take from that what it can do for me and begin incorporating that in my life.

Adopt the new philosophy

This is critical to all my forward progress. I have found it to be very helpful to continue to believe my foundational core belief. I like being open to various philosophies/approaches that maximize my overall perspective on life. I like to hear what other successful people are doing. This allows me to know that this philosophy can work and never two I can directly see how adding this new philosophy could benefit me.

Cease dependency

Most of us become dependent on people and things in an unhealthy manner. We are constantly trying to be all things to all people at all times. Consequently that is a recipe for failure.

I must stop being dependent and begin a degree of independence. It is not to say that I don’t look to these people’s circumstances or situations to draw power from. It merely means that I don’t view them as my lifeblood or the air that I agree with. They need to go from being who I am to being the beneficiary of who I have become.

Institute leadership

Instituting leadership means that I am not apt to bend to the left or bend to the right based on the prevailing wind. Instituting leadership on an inter-personal level means that I become in charge and responsible for myself. It is not to say that I didn’t solicit the opinions and teachings from God or influential people in my life. It just means that I lead my life through a formula that allows me to understand and if important, then implement. I am the one in charge of my personal institution of leadership who makes that decision.

Drive out fear

This is so important. Often we are afraid of things that will never occur. If they do occur, they will likely occur to a lesser degree than my fear promoted them to be. Fear is a wonderful acronym, false, evidence, appearing, real. Often, the fear that I am feeling goes away when I start thinking of something I’m not afraid of or something I do understand or something that has brought me a good deal of joy from experience. It does not mean that I ignore some of the warning signs that fear can produce, it just means that my fear (which is usually unwarranted) is not an obstacle that needs to prevent me from moving forward, but rather to have me be more finite and my approach to increasing quality in my life.

Remove barriers

Removing barriers is an ongoing process that we will be working on for the rest of our life.  Fortunately for us we create the barriers that keep us from achieving our ultimate goals for our personal and outreaching goals and desires. There is the adage “we have met the enemy and it is us”. The first thing we must do is realize that it is a barrier, then we look and see how it got there then take steps to remove its and then we continue that practice so they don’t return.

Take action

Without taking action everything else we would want to do is only a thought, prayer or a wish. We must take action to accomplish any of our personal and interpersonal goals. We must act if we’re going to become more productive in our life moving forward. The bible says, “faith without works is dead.” Matter of fact, taking action might be the most important element in these points we discussed today. Without action and follow through we will likely become discouraged and quit altogether because what we are looking to do is a process of osmosis. And what we’re talking about here is a likely the most challenging thing any of us will ever do and yet it is the most rewarding.  Incorporating these aspects of quality into our life can only improve how we see our self, how we can perform and most importantly the value we add to others.

Robert is the Recovery Guy. Getting clean and sober on April 25, 1986 has given me the insight and practical skill set to not only stay sober, but to also re-invent myself to the person I always wanted to become. Showing others how to do this is my life goal.
