Communicating The Message of Recovery. In other words, we must develop and live a message of recovery before we can share it. So, today we are going to share/communicate the message of recovery. Our life before recovery was indicative of selfishness and extreme self-centeredness.
Everything we transmitted to others revolved around us getting whatever we wanted when we wanted it. We disregarded everything around us. It did not matter how important and vital a person, place or thing was, we put our drinking first.
We now entered a new way of living that requires me to adopt a new way of living. Within the program of recovery is a spiritual mandate in Step 12 that requires me to share the message that saved my life.
- How do I describe the message of recovery?
My description of my recovery helps me more full understand what I have done, what I need to do today and the necessary steps I need to take moving forward. How I describe my recovery will also impact others as I try to make a difference to those around me. - How do I apply this recovery message in my life?
By recounting my journey leading up to AA and what has happened to me since becoming a member. I apply the message of recovery as a living example to my life. I want the principals of AA Recovery to be easily identifiable in my daily living. - How can I communicate/demonstrate the messageof recovery to others?
As it is written, “the program is based on attraction, not promotion.” People need to see me as a person who has
been transformed. Most anyone close to me was witness to my personal/professional decline prior to my recovery. They had a front row seat to my destruction and they have a front row seat to my resurrection.
