When I consider the word responsible I most often consider what I am responsible to do as well as who I am responsible to. Most of us have had to work at being responsible to things outside of us. I do believe the we are selfish and self-centered by nature; because of that being responsible is not a natural strength. One of the most famous quotes on being responsible is found in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous and it is in titled “The Responsibility Statement.” This statement reads “I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA to be there and for that: I am responsible.” That takes my degree or understanding of responsibility to another level. I must consider you and how I make myself available or responsible to you. When we look at the word and define responsible it means to be answerable or accountable, as for something that is what ends one’s power control or management. It also in balls accountability or responsibility, as in having the power to control or manage. It also means that I am capable of rational Faulk or action. I am also able to discharge obligations or paid debts. It also means that I’m reliable or dependable in conducting my personal or business affairs.” All of that I’d get from www.dictionary.com.

Let’s break this word down. The word responsible is simply broken into two words which means I’m response able. Response is simply a response, answer or reply as in a word or some type of action. Now let’s look at the word able. Able is having necessary power, skill, resources, or qualifications. It simply means to be qualified. When I add up those words together to form the word responsible it simply means it is an answer or action that I had the power and resources to fulfill. So, we’re not talking about anything that is not reasonable for me to accomplish. Let’s keep in mind that I am not responsible for what people do I am responsible for what they see me do. Hopefully if I am the correct example, what they see me do it may resonate within them. We also must be very sensitive in our responsibility to others in that many people aren’t always verbal in their need. We therefore must pay extra attention. There is a higher reason to be responsible for myself and conversely to others and that is “I’m my brother’s keeper.” It means quite literally the person who keeps his brother. I hope this is your response when you would consider your level of responsibility. We are responsible to the things that we find value in. I hope you find value in yourself and certainly in others. When I become the best version of me I feel better about who I am which allows me to be more affective with you. This is especially true when I realize you have a need that I have the qualifications and the resources to fulfill.
