Power Words That Motivate. As all of us know words have meaning and that meaning, more often than not, is what our actions are based on. So, it would be obvious to say that words matter. Over the years I have learned more about power words and why they are essential in my personal motivation for life. When we consider the word power it is defined as “ability to act or produce an effect.” This definition is so perfect for this blog because that is what we are looking to do. We are looking to produce an effect. What effect are we looking to produce? The effect for the purposes of this blog is to be motivated to accomplish important and necessary things in our life. What does it mean to motivate? Motivation is something that excites and moves us in a particular direction. When we look at words, in this case, power words, we are talking about words that have the ability to produce excitement. This excitement would likely lead to the result that we are looking to find. This is so true with people of recovery. We lived with a negative mindset for so long that we had to learn how to replace our negative mindset and negative words with words that have the ability to produce a positive effect. Also, our life was going nowhere because instead of being motivated to do something we were allowing things to happen to us. We had to make two very dynamic shifts in our life we needed to begin using power words. We also need to be motivated to begin doing things that were consistent with the lifestyle changes we were hoping to make. I believe that we incorporate power words that do motivate us. I always like to reduce multiple movements to a simpler approach to living. I don’t have to consider being motivated by a separate act. I believe incorporating very specific power words in my vocabulary and believing them will by extension motivate me to go and accomplish things instead of things happening to me.
Power words are known to trigger a psychological or emotional response. When we incorporate positive power words they can produce or trigger a positive psychological or positive emotional response. We then realize that that psychological or emotional response is the motivation we need to accomplish things in our life. I love how these go together. Power words are so powerful that we often don’t recognize them for being as powerful as they are. The two times we do recognize them are when things aren’t happening in our lives and someone helps us understand that we seem to be a little negative or a little down. Or, things are happening so amazing in our lives and we automatically attribute those things to our motivation and our motivation to the power words we are incorporating. All in all, I think they fit together nicely. Power words that motivate should not be marginalized, but rather elevated. If I want to be motivated in a specific direction the power words I choose and how I choose to use them will make the difference between going backward marginally moving forward or making quantum leaps towards the things I was always hoping to achieve. I hope that’s where we find you. I will look for you there. Have a great day and be blessed.
