When I first came into the program of recovery I wasn’t sure of what to do. I just knew I needed to do something and after being in the room’s recovery I believed I needed to do it there. You can’t go to a 12 step meeting without hearing about the 12 steps of recovery. Without the 12 steps of recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous – and any other 12 step group – is merely a fellowship. A fellowship can be why you are motivated to do something but it is not what we do. If I was to change from the inside out I would need steppingstones to get there. Fortunately for me and countless others, the steppingstone has already been laid out. Not only have the steps been laid out, but they have also been proven that when effectively inserted into our daily lives positive change will occur. We just don’t do one step and forget about them. The 12 steps of recovery or something that we will do for the rest of our lives. Some say they’re not necessary and for them, they may be right. I’d like it to cancer treatment or diabetes we’re by regular maintenance, daily medication and future check-ups Become part of our health plan. To not like these things, could result in our physical death. The same way with viewing steps as Steps for life. Let’s take a look at the meaning of steps and proceed moving forward.
