Normal: conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern: characterized by that which is considered usual, typical, or routine.

It is because of this definition; I believe the major difference between a person who is addicted to a substance and one who isn’t is that the non-addicted person has found other ways to dealing with life on lives terms.

So, how do people of recovery reach a state of normalcy?

  1. Make a daily commitment to your recovery
  2. Take time to pray/mediate to ask God for direction
  3. Find and stay close to people who are committed to the same goal(s)
  4. Read and study information that tends to speak to the average person not only addicts
  5. Practice consistency in your life
  6. Be accountable to people in and out of addiction
  7. Daily PDR

Robert is the Recovery Guy. Getting clean and sober on April 25, 1986 has given me the insight and practical skill set to not only stay sober, but to also re-invent myself to the person I always wanted to become. Showing others how to do this is my life goal.
