Many years ago, I heard a very descriptive term regarding addiction. It was called the hole of no hope. It seemed to describe my addictive condition better than anything I had ever heard. I did not hear it until after I was many years into recovery. Had I heard that term prior to my recovery I would have discounted it. Most people who are without hope will not admit how hopeless they are. When you are in a hole and you want to get out the first rule is to stop digging. The first rule of being in a hole is to stop digging. Therefore 100% abstinence is required for sobriety.

Robert is the Recovery Guy. Getting clean and sober on April 25, 1986 has given me the insight and practical skill set to not only stay sober, but to also re-invent myself to the person I always wanted to become. Showing others how to do this is my life goal.
