I have a tattoo on my left arm of a lion. I love the lion because of the representation of courage that the lion invokes. To take it one step further above my lion is the name, Sundiata. Sundiata is a West African name of a legendary person. Sundiata means “hungering lion“. I love the connotation of this name because it represents a person always moving forward. I want my recovery to be representative of always growing and striving to become more well. To accomplish this I must remain hungry. I must be willing to risk if I am to find reward. Risk does not come without its concern and that is the connection to courage.

Risk
Stopping behavior, I have used as a substitute for facing life

Reward
Learning to live life as it comes ODAAT

Risk
Sharing what I feel and think with others

Reward
Finding out what others think and feel and discovering the similarities

Risk
Trusting others as having a way out for me as they have demonstrated

Reward
Gaining common relationships and no longer living in personal bondage

Risk
Letting go of things that bring me a temporary fix, yet are injurious to me

Reward
Become happy, joyous and free and not die prematurely or unnecessarily

These are just some of the things that involve Risk and Reward. I hope you decide to travel down this road. I hope you find that the rewards far outweigh the risks. Please support Recovery Guy. Support us monthly by going to Patreon via Recoveryguy.org, directly to www.patreon.com/receoveryguy.

Robert is the Recovery Guy. Getting clean and sober on April 25, 1986 has given me the insight and practical skill set to not only stay sober, but to also re-invent myself to the person I always wanted to become. Showing others how to do this is my life goal.
