Have you ever heard of The Everlasting Gobstopper? Pulling information from Wikipedia, It is a candy from Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that is intended, according to Willy Wonka, its creator, “for children with very little pocket money.” It not only changes colors an flavors when sucked on, but also never gets any smaller or disappears. It is like the gift that is recovery. Recovery is the Gift that keeps on Giving.

Let’s look at both words, define them and see how they apply to our purposeful life.

As a noun a gift is defined as notable capacity, talent, or endowment, something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation, the act, right, or power of giving.

As a verb, it is to endow with some power, quality, or attribute

Recovery is to get back: REGAIN, to bring back to normal position or condition. RESCUE, to make up for. Here are some things to do to keep the gift giving

  1. Start each day aligned with the God of our understanding
  2. Be willing to recognize areas we need to grow
  3. Stay grateful for the things that occur in our life
  4. Pray for opportunities to share our gift
  5. End each day appreciating and reconciling the day’s events If we do these things, I guarantee that the gift of

recovery will continue to give and even out give all we do and are.

Robert is the Recovery Guy. Getting clean and sober on April 25, 1986 has given me the insight and practical skill set to not only stay sober, but to also re-invent myself to the person I always wanted to become. Showing others how to do this is my life goal.
