One of them great privileges of doing what I do is the people I interact with. It is not only the number of individuals; it is the varied type of individual. I get to speak with young an older, male and female, straight and gay, well to do and getting by, those new to recovery and those who have been around for a while. Because of my varied background, I speak to people who have had behavioral issues with pornography, gambling anger as well as those suffering from food alcohol and drug addictions. The list goes on and on. There is a common thread through them all and that is people are tired of doing and not measuring up. That is why today’s podcast is in titled “Why Do when you can Be.” We are not human doings we are human beings. It is the ultimate law of attraction.

In Alcoholics Anonymous one of the great clichés is the Kiss System and that is to Keep It Simple Sweetheart. When I had a challenge or concern, I would often go to my sponsor, Jack F. and like clockwork at the end of most conversations Jack would say “keep it simple and take it easy. The notion “To Be“ embraces the Kiss System.

Shakespeare’s play Hamlet contains a most profound question “To be, or not to be? That is the question”.

Be is defined as to exist or live; to take place; happen; occur; to occupy a place or position

The word defines you and me in so many ways. Depending upon the timing of where we are referring is could mean am, are or was, were or been and in the most-tense, being.

Let’s stop trying to do and just be. I think we will be better for it.Go to www.patreon.com/recoveryguy for monthly support or Venmo @Robert-Pardon-3 for a one-time donation. Thanks in advance

Robert is the Recovery Guy. Getting clean and sober on April 25, 1986 has given me the insight and practical skill set to not only stay sober, but to also re-invent myself to the person I always wanted to become. Showing others how to do this is my life goal.
