Episode #194 – Friday The Checkup: No End in Sight

I was watching the Masters this last weekend and I heard a commercial regarding the universe and a particular perspective. Lack of power was our dilemma. Outer space is so vast that we don’t know where it starts or where it ends. The same is true in recovery. We might be able to come close to where our addiction began. We might be able to discern the varying degrees of nature versus nurture, but pinpoint where it begins is near impossible.

Why H.O.W. Now and not Later?

Why H.O.W. Now and not Later?

The reason so many of us put off starting later and not now is because of fear. In this particular blog the “HOW” stands for honesty, open- mindedness, and willingness. We find it near impossible to be any of these three things let alone being them simultaneously. If I am honest I have to admit that I have a problem. That goes 100% counter to protecting the supply because that supply is my medication of which I need to get through life.

Episode #190 – Friday The Checkup: A Firm Foundation

One of the most wonderful things about what I do as a person committed to personal recovery is working with others along the way. One of the most important things I convey to everyone is the importance of a firm foundation. If one is to build anything a foundation is required. It has been said “If the foundations are destroyed what can one do.” I’ve also heard “a house divided against itself cannot stand.“ So not only does the foundation need to be firm but an indicator of its firmness is it singleness of purpose. To paraphrase the Gandhi, Life is an indivisible whole and it must lack internal conflict.

Self Esteem

Self Esteem

Mark twain said, “a man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.” This quote is so important to understand. Self-esteem is the necessary component Two most all accomplishment. They desire that fuels a person to do the best job possible is foundational to success. How I feel about me will often determine the job that I do in the subsequent outcome. Going back to the quote by Mark Twain it is necessary that I approve of me.

Accountability

Accountability

Through accountability from a wellness standpoint means that I am an open book to you. This does not mean that every relationship in our life is based on our accountability. Most of my relationships have superficial accountability that apply to one area or another. As the relationship becomes more meaningful and has a different impact on me in love or caring or sharing intimacy, accountability his defined much differently. I love the simplicity of the word accountable.

Episode #188 – Friday The Checkup: Promises You Can Count On

One of the most beautiful things about the plan of recovery are the promises that are made. They are made to give us hope. They are exclusively for those who decide to apply the plan of recovery to their life. I was so encouraged when I came into the program of Alcoholics Anonymous because I was told “that if I worked the plan of recovery as it was outlined, I could expect these things to occur.“ They were 100% correct. I hope you have found this to be true for you.
